The World’s Best-Prepared Patient – Ep 306

Nobody in this equation is flawless: not doctors, not us, and not even AI. It hallucinates, making up stories like a Hollywood screenwriter. But it also has perfect recall and lacks the myopic vision of human beings. … That’s the model. Not AI instead of your doctor.

A good friend of mine in Denver was sick for months: coughing, shortness of breath, a fever that wouldn’t quit. Half a dozen doctors couldn’t figure out what he had. Then National Jewish Health diagnosed him with Valley fever, a fungal infection he’d picked up gardening in Arizona. That was before AI.

More recently, another friend started losing his vision after cataract surgery. Several doctors prescribed eye drops. He described his symptoms to AI, which flagged a very different diagnosis and told him to see a doctor immediately. His eyesight was saved.

These two stories made me pause and question how I approach my own health. An average doctor sees a few thousand patients a year, and the doctor-patient visit now resembles a pit stop in a Formula One race. I have deep respect for doctors. But they are, well, they are human.

So here is what I did. I built a project in Claude and connected it to my calendar, my digital scale, my Oura ring, and eight years of medical records from my doctor’s portal: blood tests, medications, supplements, notes. Everything. I walk through why I run the weekly review, how I use ChatGPT, Grok, and Gemini as second, third, and fourth opinions to guard against hallucinations, and why I order the “résumé of my body” with numbers first and diagnoses next before I hand it to a new doctor.

I also get into sleep as my weakest link, and what I’ve learned comparing Chilipad and Eight Sleep’s Pod 6.

Depressing Reasons Why I Am Bullish On Gold (Part 2) – Ep 302

Here is what changed my mind. Not something about gold, but many things about the dollar. The US dollar is the world's reserve currency.
